Summer Camp 2012

We had our first Scout Committee Meeting last night to plan the 2012 summer camp for our unit.  It was a very productive meeting as we settled on some main points for the camp.

For starters we selected the dates of July 16-21, 2012 for the camp.  This should allow for those boys involved with spring sport to wrap things up and will be before the start of any fall sports.

We also decided that availability permitting we would be camping in the Wishon Campground at Bass Lake.  This campground will provide us with some seclusion and allow us to have the feel of being out on our own. 

We discussed possible activities for the camp and merit badges for us to work on, although it was decided that we want the scouts to be selecting those merit badges that they are most  interested in and we will ensure that we have the counselors on hand to run those classes.

So far it is looking like we will have about 14 boys scouts and 8 full time adult leaders.  Other leaders may come for parts of the week to facilitate various activities. 

Our list of possible activities include:

1. Hiking
2. Motorboating
3. Canoeing/Kayaking
4. Rock Climbing
5. Repelling
6. Rafting
7. Backpacking

We will be holding another scout committee meeting on December 20, 2011 at 8:30pm at the church on Bobier and request all parents to be in attendance.  

Varsity Team 726 Members go to Championships!!!

Congratulations to members of our varsity scout team who will be representing Vista High School at the Division I CIF Championship game to be played at Qualcomm Stadium on Monday, December 5th @ 7:00pm.

Justin Shute will be playing QB for the Vista Panthers, Micah Lewellan will be in the color guard, with Logan Stevens and Sam Talcott in the band!!!
